The film accompanies the siblings Maya and Itay Regev, who were released from Hamas captivity in a hostage deal after being taken from the Nova music festival, as part of the Uvda (fact in Hebrew) program. Last year, Uvda was also nominated for Itay Engel's film about the war in Ukraine.
The winners of the 2024 award will be announced at an official ceremony in New York at the end of September when the film will compete in the Current Affairs category. It will face three other films: Evel, Hazin: Days of Mourning by the Brazilian network GloboNews, which follows the pain and grief in Israel following October 7, The Trap: India's Deadliest Scam by the Indian BBC network which investigates the suicide of 60 citizens after falling for a loan scam, and The Last Hospital: 30 Days in Myanmar by "Sky News" that covers the bloody civil war in Myanmar.
Also in the news category announced today there is a presence for the war between Israel and Hamas, thus the British channel Channel 4 News is nominated for the coverage of the war, as well as the Qatari channel Al Jazeera.
