Royal author Tom Quinn, who published the book Kensington Palace: An Intimate Memoir from Queen Mary to Meghan Markle, told UK-based entertainment outlet The Mirror Tuesday that William and Kate requested to meet with Harry and Meghan, but added that at this stage, things haven’t matured toward complete conciliation between the royals.
"There is no way Meghan would bring the children to the UK. William and Kate have suggested that Meghan and Harry bring the children and that the two couples and their families try to make up, but the suggestion is not leading anywhere so far,” he said.
The four’s relationship four began to deteriorate back in November 2018, just six months after Harry and Meghan's royal wedding, but finally shattered in January 2020 when the Sussexes unexpectedly announced their withdrawal from the monarchy.
In March 2021, the rift intensified further following Harry and Meghan's interview with Oprah Winfrey, in which they accused the royal family of various wrongdoings: the severe accusation being they were all allegedly racist.

In addition, Harry claimed that he fears bringing his family to the UK since local police have refused to provide them with a security detail as other royal family members receive. Harry threatened and then took legal steps to ensure his family’s security, but last February, a British court ruled that they would not have security paid for them at the taxpayers' expense.
The British government said that every visit by the Sussexes will be examined and discussed on whether the state will provide the required security or whether it will be privately paid for by the former royals.
The last time the four met was in September 2022 - following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. According to reports, it was Prince William who called his younger brother and offered him and his wife to join him and Kate for a walk toward Windsor Castle to meet their supporters. "It was lovely to see them all together; maybe they can return to a normal relationship," a British national said.
