Royal author Robert Jobson’s new biography of Kate Middleton revealed Prince Harry has conflicts with both his father King Charles III and Prince William, which she has managed to mediate due to the king's care for her. One such conflict occurred recently, right after Middleton revealed she was diagnosed with cancer and went on a vacation with her husband and children.
For the occasion, William borrowed the royal helicopter, which Charles wasn’t pleased by. According to Jobson, Charles presented William with “a formal document acknowledging the risks involved and taking full responsibility for his actions.”
This came after Queen Elizabeth set a clear rule that the royal family could not fly together. This means that if William and Kate wanted to fly with their children, they must do so on separate flights to ensure that the family line would continue, should a crash occur.
According to Jobson, the one who managed to bridge the gaps between the heir to the throne and his father was Middleton. “[She] is somebody who always tries to see both sides of any dispute, emotionally mature, and is a stabilizing influence,” he wrote, citing a local courtier. “I think the [King] understands Catherine is a good influence on the entire family. He loves and truly appreciates everything she does," he added.
He said Kate "smoothed the way for William and his father to have a better relationship than they had in the past.” A palace source said they had become increasingly close over the past years. Regarding William, the source said the prince "respects his father and his devotion to service, but he feels the fact his father put work first had a detrimental impact on him when he was growing up and didn't help their father/son relationship."
The book also reveals Middleton addresses Charles as "Grandpa," and he’s always happy and excited to see her. "The monarch is always excited to see the princess, heading her way immediately when he spots her at family events. He usually greets her with a loving kiss.”
