Instagram on Wednesday removed an Israeli campaign responding to the "All eyes on Rafah" social media campaign criticizing Israel's offensive on the southern Gaza city.
"Where were your eyes on October 7?" was launched by Diploact and shared by Defense Minister Yoav Gallant among many others.
The anti-Israel AI-generated campaign captioned "ALL EYES ON RAFAH," received 42 million shares among celebrities with millions of followers and spread quickly on social media platforms.
Familiar names like Gigi and Bella Hadid, Nicola Coughlan from Bridgerton, Mark Ruffalo, Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Grey’s Anatomy actor Giacomo Gianniotti, Rosie O'Donnell and singer Kehlani are among those spreading the image.
The response in support of Israel depicts images of an armed Hamas terrorist standing in front of a small, red-haired baby, referencing one-year-old Kfir Bibas, who has been held hostage by Hamas along with his family since October 7. Others used the caption "If your eyes are on Rafah, help us find our hostages."
But it was removed after its creator Benjamin Giarmon discovered his Instagram account was blocked and the story removed. "I don't know why," he told Ynet.
Israeli celebrities like Ben El Tavori, Liel Eli, Ruslana Rodina, Maya Wertheimer, Ofer Shechter, Eyal Golan, Yael Shelbia, Adi Himelbloy, Maya Kay, Ofira Assayag, Yarden Harel, Roni Dalumi, Esti Ginzburg, Miri Mesika, Anna Aronov, Shiri Maimon, Manor Solomon and Liron and Tali Carakukly led the effort for this canpaign. Their images garnered nearly 400,000 shares.
