Recent images from China revealed XPeng’s new plug-in hybrid model undergoing road tests ahead of its official debut at the Shanghai Auto Show in April. This is the company's first non-electric vehicle, expected to receive European certification and potentially arrive in both Europe and Israel later this year.
According to XPeng, the SUV will feature an oversized battery with an estimated electric driving range of 430 km (267 miles) under China’s CLTC standard, translating to slightly over 300 km (186 miles) under the Western WLTP standard — comparable to some fully electric vehicles.

The gasoline engine will not drive the wheels but will function as a range extender, with a total range exceeding 1,400 km (870 miles) under the Chinese standard. The vehicle will also support an 800V system for ultra-fast charging, allowing the battery to go from 10% to 80% in just 12 minutes at a compatible station.
Photos showed a large SUV with proportions similar to the G9 model but featuring sharper design lines. It is expected to offer three rows of seats for six or seven passengers, competing with the Leapmotor C16, Lynk & Co 900, Li Auto L9 and Denza N9.

The expected price in China is around 400,000 yuan ($55,600), about 10% more than the premium G9 model. If priced similarly in Israel, it could cost around 430,000 shekels ($117,000).
XPeng has emerged as one of China’s most promising automakers. While not the first to enter the plug-in hybrid market, the brand is setting new standards for driving range and charging speed, making this model attractive for long-distance drivers.
If priced competitively, it could become another hit for XPeng, which has gained significant traction in Israel, selling nearly 5,000 vehicles last year compared to just over 8,000 across all of Europe. Given its strong presence, Israel could be among the first markets worldwide to receive the new model.
