A poll by UK data analysis firm YouGov published on Wednesday showed 42-year-old Princess of Wales Kate Middleton outranked her husband Prince William and became the UK’s most popular royal after coming forward with her cancer diagnosis.
According to the poll’s results, Middleton’s popularity has significantly improved following the public knowledge about her illness. A survey published back in February, when the princess’ condition was still under wraps, revealed 77% of survey participants chose William as the liked royal, while Middleton had to settle for second place with 74%.
This changed in April, when another survey conducted among British citizens awarded Middleton the first place in public favor with 76% of the votes, while William dropped to 73%.
In a surprising third place is Princess Anne, King Charles III’s sister, with 71%, and on the other hand, the king himself – who’s also battling cancer - holds fourth place with 63% of the votes.
In fifth place is Prince Edward with 54%, who came to the aid of the king when he had to fill his place at an official royal event at Buckingham Palace for the first time, alongside his wife, the Duchess of Edinburgh Sophie.
Queen Consort Camilla, whose opening position among the British public wasn't astounding, ranks in sixth place with only 50% of the votes.
Of course, the Sussexes, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, also made the list – standing near the bottom: Prince Harry with only 31%, and his wife with just 26%. There are some royals that are even less liked than the controversial couples, however, is Prince Andrew who made the bottom of the list with 6%.
