Almost three years after broadcasting its ‘End of the Road’ farewell tour, the American rock band KISS finally announced on Wednesday the official dates and locations of its last 50 shows.
The world tour will begin on October 29 in Austin, Texas and go on to other locations in the U.S. and Canada.
The two last shows will take place in Madison Square Garden in New York CIty, on the first two days of December.
The rock band originally started in the Big Apple, on 23rd street, the group recalled, calling it an honor to end their tour there 50 years later.
KISS originally announced the farewell tour in 2019, which was supposed to kick off some two years later. However, complications brought forth by the COVID pandemic, led to several delays.
The bassist and co-lead singer of the band, Gene Simmons, known by his stage persona "the Demon", was born in Haifa with the name Chaim Witz and still has family that he visits in Israel.
In an interview, Simmons explained that the band's decision to end its long career was out of self-respect and love toward fans. He said the worst thing a band can do is stick around for too long, and that they prefer to finish off strong while still on their feet, although it's bitter-sweet.
