"I finally found it!" This is the phrase that keeps popping up on TikTok in connection with an ice cream that's taken the social media platform by storm.
The ice cream in question consists of fruit-shaped popsicles (mango, peach and lemon), packed in somewhat tricky-to-open boxes and sold at a premium price.
Though they originate from China, these popsicles have gone viral over the past year in countries like the United States, Canada, Australia, and the UAE, and now they've made their way into Israeli social media feeds.
Known as Propitious Ice Cream, or more commonly "the viral ice cream," these treats aren't available in every supermarket. Instead, they're mainly found in Asian grocery stores and specialty markets. The difficulty in finding these fruit-shaped popsicles seems to be part of their allure.
Nearly every video about them on social media starts with a comment like, "I've been searching for this ice cream for so long." Not only are they hard to come by, but they also sold out in the U.S. for a time this year after going viral, adding to their mystique.
The price, as mentioned, is steep – ranging from 25 to 30 shekels (around $7 to $8) for a single popsicle in Israel. Yet, many have tried this ice cream and, of course, documented every moment.
And the taste? Most people love the Chinese ice cream and are impressed by its appearance, which resembles the actual fruit and even carries its scent. In other words, it's a photogenic treat perfect for Instagram and TikTok. Comments like "One of the best," "I've never tasted anything like it," and "A solid 10/10" are just some of the praise it's received online.
