Nearly a century after textile entrepreneur Friedel Proskauer was involved in Berlin’s fashion scene before World War II, her grandson, Israeli Ambassador to Germany Ron Prosor, walked the runway in the German capital showcasing a suit designed by Israeli fashion designer Doron Ashkenazi, which was partially made from recycled materials.

"This is not a second career," Prosor reassured after taking to the runway, adding, "I am proud to bring the best of Israeli fashion to the forefront. We celebrate a cultural richness that also benefits the environment. I'm sure my grandmother would be proud of closing this fashion circle, being a Berlin fashionista in the 1920s."
The fashion show took place as part of the "Jewish Culture Days in Berlin" festival, organized by the Israeli Embassy in Berlin alongside several partners. Throughout the event, authors, comedians, fashion designers, and musicians—including Aviv Geffen and Marina Maximilian Blumin—showcased their work.
Prosor’s outfit was incorporated as part of the event organizers' efforts to make extensive use of recycled materials during the production. Other designers who displayed their creations included Chana Merlus, Yaniv Persy and Sharon Tal.
