Jake Paul, a 27-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer, defeated 58-year-old heavyweight boxing legend Mike Tyson in a unanimous decision after eight rounds in the highly anticipated fight held Saturday at AT&T Stadium.
Dubbed the "Fight of the Decade," the event drew millions of viewers on Netflix's free livestream, despite widespread complaints of streaming glitches. The match, originally scheduled for July, was delayed due to a medical issue Tyson faced in May.
The fight began evenly, with Tyson showing flashes of his former prowess, but by the fourth round, the legendary fighter began to tire. Paul capitalized on the opportunity, securing the judges' unanimous decision.
"I came to fight," Tyson said after the match. "I wasn't here to prove anything to anyone but myself. I'm happy I fought, even with an injury. Was it my last fight? I don’t think so."
Paul, who started his boxing career in 2020, now boasts a 7-1 record, primarily against former MMA fighters. Tyson, with a storied career of 50 wins (44 by knockout) and six losses, became the youngest heavyweight champion in history in 1986 at age 20.
The bout highlighted the generational and stylistic clash, attracting significant attention from fans of both fighters and proving that even at 58, Tyson remains a global boxing icon.
