Although actor and singer Idan Amedi was expected to leave the hit Israeli television series Fauda, the production team has confirmed that he will appear in the upcoming season in a guest role, keeping the door open for future involvement.
The decision, made in coordination with Amedi, comes after earlier announcements that he would not return due to scheduling conflicts. A source close to the production told Ynetnews the move was designed to "keep all options on the table."
“There’s a great deal of mutual love and respect between Amedi and Fauda, so this is a solution that works well for both sides,” the source said.
Series co-creator Avi Issacharoff praised Amedi in an interview with Yedioth Ahronoth’s 7 Nights magazine, calling him “the most amazing person I’ve met.” He added, “In my view, he should be prime minister one day. He’s also a good friend and an exceptional human being.”

Issacharoff noted Amedi’s response to the October 7 Hamas attacks on Israel, saying the singer "picked up and went to fight," referring to his voluntary return to military service. Amedi, a reservist in the Israel Defense Forces, was wounded in combat during the war in Gaza and later shared updates on his recovery from the hospital.
Producer Liat Benasuly said Amedi’s growing commitments as a musician made it difficult for him to continue with the series. “Over the seasons, we’ve seen Idan grow and, of course, become a star,” she said. “But unfortunately, he won’t be part of the fifth season. It’s simply too much—his performances, adjusting to routine, and our filming schedule.”
According to Benasuly, a storyline had already been written for Amedi’s character, but he informed the team that he would not be able to participate fully in the new season. The production decided to proceed without delay and incorporate a guest appearance instead.
Fauda, produced by Israel’s Yes Studios, follows an elite Israeli counterterrorism unit and has drawn an international following since its debut in 2015. The series was later sold to Netflix, where it gained a global audience.
