Seven months after their engagement, Eden Fines and Norwegian soccer player Mathias Normann, have decided to go their separate ways, the Israeli model shared on social media on Monday.
"I've never done this before, but I prefer it coming from me rather than from rumors and the media," the 26-year-old shared in Hebrew with her 1.1 million followers on Instagram.
"Mathias and I are no longer together. I realized that our paths are not leading to the same place. Our beliefs, aspirations and lifestyles are completely different. We tried to bridge, to work things out, but it didn't succeed. I decided to stop it now before it became harder and I lost myself completely. I hope you will honor my need for privacy, as I navigate this recovery for both myself and him."
In an interview with Ynet's sister publication Pplus in February, Fines had already shown signs of hesitancy about tying the knot with the Normman, who plays as a defensive midfielder for Saudi club Al Raed, especially in light of the events of October 7.
"Now doesn’t seem like the right time to be planning a wedding or celebrating. We wanted an exhilarating journey, not just an event. Currently, I’m not up to it. It’s challenging to think about everyday life when you know that for many, such normalcy is impossible. At the moment, we aren’t focusing on specifics, but we are still discussing the general situation. No date has been set yet," she said.
The couple met in Greece last June while Fines was there hosting the reality show Love Island. They became engaged after three months of dating.
