More than a year after suffering a serious injury in Gaza, Israeli singer Idan Amedi made his return to the stage Wednesday night with a highly anticipated performance in Jerusalem.
“I choose to tell you that tonight will move like this,” Amedi told the crowd of more than 8,000 people. “Between depths, between extremes, between cliffs — because that’s exactly what this land is. Exposed and beautiful, painful and pure, divided yet whole. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned this past year, it’s to cherish the moment, the now — because nothing else exists. So, thank God I’m here.”
During the concert, Amedi welcomed IDF lookouts who had been held hostage by Hamas, reserving a VIP section for them. “I love you, and I’m so glad you’re home,” he told them.
The show opened with "Superman," a track from his latest album, followed by a mix of new songs and past hits. At one point, Amedi, visibly emotional, shared a deeply personal revelation: A few weeks after being released from reserve duty following the Oct. 7 terror attack, he wrote a "will for his children" while putting his daughter, Yael, to sleep.

Audience members found a letter and a Superman pin waiting for them on their seats. “I’m writing these words months before this first show,” the letter read. “With a million questions about how to even stand on a stage again… Thank you for being here.”
