August brought with the heat and September will not let it go? beat the heat-induced stress and anxiety with pretty ice cubes which double as the flavor. Yuval Segev, the bar manager of the Emek Brasserie restaurant in Kibbutz Mishmar Hasharon, showed us how to make improved ice cubes at home along with a chilly cocktail.
Segev explained that you can use cucumber slices (which are mainly suitable for gin), herbs, lemon, and other fruits. This time he chose a fig. Place these ingredients in an ice cube tray and add water - preferably filtered or boiling water for those who don't have filtered water.
Segev also concocted a homemade cocktail inspired by Emek Brasserie's cocktail menu:
Crush lemon geranium in a shaker.
Add a piece of cucumber or green apple.
Add a dose of gin, a teaspoon of sugar and 30 ml of lemon juice.
Shake hard, strain into a tall glass and cover with tonic water.
Add rosemary for garnish and the decorated ice cubes.
Cheers.
