A 14-month-old baby was hurt after a jackal bit him and dragged him from his family's tent in a Negev campsite.
The baby's father said he had left a small opening in the tent late on Friday night and rushed back when he heard his wife scream that the baby was gone. "The jackal must have dragged him for a few meters before letting him go," The Nature and Parks Authority said adding a search to find the jackal was underway.
The baby was hospitalized at the Soroka Medical Center in Beer Sheva where he was treated for mild injuries. "Upon his arrival, the child underwent medical scans and tests and was inoculated to prevent disease," the hospital said.
In April, a similar incident occurred also in the Negev, then, a wolf bit a nine-year-old girl as he dragged her out of her tent. Her father, who was awakened by her cries chased the wolf away.
