Israelis are praying their AC hold up in what promises to be one of the most forceful and anxiety-inducing heat waves the Middle Eastern nation has ever known, with triple-digit temperatures promising to become more frequent

Israel is bracing for one of the most intense heat waves in its existence with the arrival of Cleon expected later this week. As of Tuesday, temperatures will gradually rise and by Cleaon will make its full force felt, in a prolonged wave that is expected to persist into the following week.

Temperatures will exceed 30°C (86 °F) throughout the country, and reach upwards of 40°C (104°F) in the south and east. On the seashore temperatures on Thursday are forecast to reach 32°C (90°F) but with the high humidity, it will feel like 41°C (107°F.) The entire country will experience intense to extreme heat conditions.

To prevent heatstroke, the Ministry of Health has issued a set of guidelines. They urge the general public, especially the elderly and people suffering from chronic illnesses, to take precautions such as minimizing sun exposure, avoiding unnecessary physical exertion, staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water, and seeking shelter in air-conditioned environments whenever possible.
