Rare birds stolen from Jerusalem’s Biblical Zoo in overnight heist

Three burglars broke into the Biblical Zoo in Jerusalem, stealing six rare parrots and around 20 lorikeets; Authorities believe the thieves are animal traffickers and are working to track down the stolen birds and return them safely

Six rare birds and approximately 20 lorikeets were stolen early Thursday morning from the Biblical Zoo in Jerusalem, according to a statement from the zoo.

The zoo reported that three burglars, who had apparently been monitoring the security arrangements at the site for some time, broke into the zoo and stole the rare parrots.

Zoo CEO Sigalit Hertz, said zoo officials "believe these are animal traffickers who knew exactly what to steal. We are in contact with the police and the Nature and Parks Authority. At the moment, we are analyzing the information, hoping to locate them and return them quickly and safely to the zoo."
