Border Police investigators and rangers from Israel's Nature and Parks Authority uncovered a crocodile, an anaconda snake and venomous frogs held illegally in an agricultural community in central Israel. They also found different types of exotic lizards that are not indigenous to Israel, and a turtle egg likely found in the wild nearby.
"This is a serious offense that includes danger to human life, the risk of flight and harm to local nature," the Nature and Parks Authority said in a statement. "There is also harm to the well-being of wild animals. We urge the public to report any case of wild animals being held illegally or under unsuitable conditions.
Israeli authorities have recently been dealing in the smuggling of wild animals across the Jordanian and Egyptian borders. they found lion cubs and apes in the possession of civilians.
