Israel's daily COVID cases continue to drop, ministry says

Out of the 2,763 patients receiving care in hospitals, 1,085 are described to be in serious condition; After 28 die in the past day from complications of the virus, fatalities since start of pandemic reach 8,926

The number of daily confirmed COVID cases continued to drop, the Health Ministry said on Wednesday, after 60,329 tests returned a positive result on Tuesday including 4,880 people who were infected once again.

    The highest number of infections was reported on January 23, when more than 85,000 were confirmed with the virus.
    The R factor indicating community spread on Tuesday, stood on 0.91.
    There are 435,000 known COVID patients in Israel, most of them suf
    fering from mild symptoms, while 2,763 are hospitalized for treatment.
    Hospitals report 1,085 patients in serious condition with 316 described to be critical.

    Some 260 patients are on ventilators and 17 are connected to the ECMO heart and lung machines.
    According to the ministry, 28 people died from COVID related complications on Tuesday bringing the total tally of deaths since the start of the pandemic to 8,926.
    Jerusalem continues to lead the country in morbidity with 33,690 active patients, followed by Tel Aviv with 21,079 known to have been infected by COVID-19.
    The government decided on Tuesday to remove the Green Pass restrictions from all but "high-risk" events that include large crowds or involve the at-risk population.
    The new outline is pending the approval of the Knesset's Constitution, Law and Justice Committee.
