A casual encounter at a supermarket in France turned into an antisemitic confrontation after an Irish tourist allegedly told a Jewish couple that he was sorry Hitler had not “finished the job” and later threatened to shoot them.
Karen Ivers, who filmed the incident, posted the footage on X, where it quickly went viral and drew roughly 1 million views within hours.

According to Ivers, the encounter began after the man approached the couple because her husband was wearing a French football shirt and he heard them speaking English.
“The man from Ireland approached us because my husband was wearing a French football team shirt, and obviously he also heard us speaking English,” Ivers wrote. “He joked and asked, ‘Why is an Englishman wearing a French shirt?’ My husband replied in a friendly way that he was Australian, but liked the shirt, and since we were traveling around France, he was happy to wear it.”
She said the exchange initially remained friendly. The man introduced himself as “Paddy from Ireland,” and the couple exchanged names and shook hands with him.
The conversation then turned to Irish football before shifting into politics.
Ivers said she told him that her objection was not to Ireland’s football team but to Irish politics, which she described as strongly anti-Israel and supportive of Hamas and Hezbollah.
According to her account, the man then became aggressive and said he was sorry Hitler had not “finished the job.”
The video begins after that alleged remark, with Ivers confronting him and repeatedly asking him to say it again.
“Are you glad Hitler didn’t finish the job? Go on, say it again, Paddy. Say it again,” she can be heard saying.
She then tells the camera: “The Irishman just told us he’s sorry that Hitler didn’t finish the job.”
The man responds: “You’re in Europe here.”
Ivers continues pressing him to repeat the remark, saying: “Go on, tell us again. You’re sorry Hitler didn’t finish the job. Please, tell us again. Tell us again, Paddy.”
The man then threatens her.
“Get the fuck away from me before I put a fucking bullet in your head, okay?” he says in the footage.
The transcript therefore confirms the death threat captured on video, while the initial Hitler remark itself is described by Ivers immediately afterward rather than heard directly in the clip.
Ivers later posted the footage online with the message: “Make this Irish Nazi psychopath famous.”
The video was widely shared on social media, drawing attention both to the alleged antisemitic remark and to the explicit threat that followed.
