An Air Canada flight from Casablanca to Montreal was canceled after a flight attendant yelled at some passengers following an altercation with a passenger who requested a blanket. The incident that took place on Friday was reported by the Canadian network CTVNews and other sites worldwide. The incident was filmed and went viral on social media.
The plane was already on its way to the runway when the flight attendant began shouting at the passengers. Apart from the information that the passenger requested a blanket, it is unclear what else led to the outburst. In the video posted on X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook, the flight attendant is seen yelling at the passenger in French and English, threatening to remove her from the plane.
"Behave properly, or we will remove you!" the flight attendant yelled. "I will tell the captain immediately – yes or no."
When passengers asked her to call the captain, she refused, saying, "I don't want there to be bullying against my crew. Okay? Everyone - Behave." One of the passengers, presumably the one filming the video, is heard saying, "Okay, I don't like this attitude." The flight attendant continued yelling, "Be quiet, fasten your seatbelts, or you will be removed."
In an act of solidarity, some passengers threatened to disembark themselves, but there was no need to test the seriousness of this threat, as the captain himself canceled the flight, and it was decided that another crew would fly the passengers at a later time.
The airline confirmed that the flight was canceled and stated that the passengers received compensation for the delay and the incident.
"We take this incident very seriously," said a company spokesperson. "We are examining it and will take appropriate measures. We apologize to our customers and deeply regret that their experience was far from what they expected when they came to fly with Air Canada."
