An Israeli hiker was injured on Monday while on a trek in the Tyrol Mountains in Austria. After his friends called for help, he was airlifted by a chopper for treatment. The man broke his leg falling on the trail and thanks to their use of a satellite phone, the three Israelis were able to alert their insurance company which dispatched the medical rescue team.

The man, a resident of central Israel, was given preliminary medical care onsite and after it was determined that he was not in a life-threatening condition and because the terrain would not allow a chopper to land, he was lifted by cable to a chopper which then transported him to hospital.
"Our customer is in good condition that that was our primary concern and we use all means at our disposal," the insurance company said. "We are glad we were able to extract the man quickly before losing light and were able to deliver him to the hospital.
The Israeli search and rescue company working with the insurer said they received word that an Israeli hiker was hurt and was positioned on a steep slope that was inaccessible. A professional team was able to extract him by a cable sent down from a chopper," they said.
