Israel's national security council on Sunday, raised the level of alert for Israelis traveling in Thailand to level 2. "This is not due to an increase in threats, but rather a call to review and highlight recommendations," the NSC said.
Earlier this month, Mossad confirmed that terrorists were planning to attack a "Full Moon" party in the Thai island of Ko Pha Ngan, a favorite of Israeli tourists. "Two weeks after the announced threat, and since the risk of a terrorist attack persists, the NSC has increased its threat level for Thailand, and urges extra caution."
According to the guidelines issued by the council:
1. Israelis should avoid crowded events known to be frequented by Israelis and especially those announced in advance.
2. Israelis should alert local authorities to any suspicious activity or acts of aggression toward Israelis.
3. Israelis should avoid displaying markings identifying them as Israeli or Jewish
4. Israelis should avoid posting their travel plans on social media.
5. Israelis should avoid posts discussing the war or their military service on social media
The NSC said their recommendations apply to Thailand in general and not to any specific location.
