Foreign airlines gradually restarting Israel flights as cease-fire takes effect

Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air will gradually resume operations in Israel starting December 20; Greece's national airline, Aegean Airlines, announces will restart flights to Israel on December 10

Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air announced Wednesday a gradual resumption of flights to Israel, following the cease-fire on the northern front.
Flights from Tel Aviv to Larnaca will restart on December 20, with four weekly flights. The airline is also offering 1,000 tickets at €50 for one-way trips and plans to update schedules for other routes by January 15.

Meanwhile, Greek airline Aegean will resume flights on December 10, while Air France extended its suspension of Paris-Tel Aviv flights until December 10.
Azerbaijan Airlines plans to restart its Tel Aviv-Baku route on November 30, but carriers like Ryanair, Virgin Atlantic and LOT Polish Airlines have announced delays until 2025.

Ben Gurion Airport saw 33,000 passengers on Wednesday across 209 flights, with 17,300 departing and 15,700 arriving. Despite the activity, major airlines like Lufthansa Group, Iberia Express, American Airlines and Delta have postponed resuming flights, citing security and logistical challenges.
Israeli carrier Israir is stepping in to fill gaps, planning 4-5 weekly flights from Tel Aviv to London Luton starting November 17.
Meanwhile, Bulgaria Air, Air Seychelles and United Airlines remain suspended until further notice. Many airlines, including Cathay Pacific, EasyJet and KLM, have extended their halts into 2025, reflecting ongoing uncertainty.
