The Haredim are fortunate to have 4, 5 sometimes 6 or more kids and those kids are being supported by the government aka MY taxes. My husband and I, who only have one child cannot afford to have another one without being close to the poverty line. Mr. Deri you want to tell me that's fair?? For the sum total of *all* Israeli society, rather than *just* Haredim or *just* Arabs? 0.0166% of the Israeli budget goes to child welfare - *all* children, in *all* of Israel. That's a tiny fraction of a percentile. And the plan is to reduce that tiny fraction of a percentile by more than half, with a drastic cutoff (meaning a very quick change, leaving no time for adjustment). This is not about "they should work". This is essentially making the poor poorer, with no immediate means of change. And that will cause prolonged harm for Israeli society and economy - moreso than any immediate budget deficit.

Aid to Israel will be reduced by "the sequestration" of 5%, just like every other US budget item. This will amount to about $150 million USD out of a total of $3 billion the US provides annually. In fact, the US aid reduction amounts to about only 15% of the Israeli budget reduction.

Charedim pay the same taxes? The charedim I know pay nothing and only collect welfare and 'study' Torah all day. I give 31% of my paycheck and get nothing in return from them.

Then work to support your kids like the rest of us, don't have more than 2 kids unless you can afford to feed and clothe them without government assistance. You can study Torah and work too the Haredi in NY and Europe manage to do both!

sekel the goverment money is secular tax money, seculars don't demand money from the gov and don't ask for extras, it is about time you will help all Israeli society by being productive citizens go to work and not demanding handouts, show how much dignity you have. the poor poorer, just empty slogans, they need beter school learning to be productive, I was amazed to find out they can't even caculate fractures in mathematics, and that is basic knowledge. and yes they were haredim in their 30's. sham people beg for handouts.

The haredim get subsidies on just about everything - arnona, apartments, summer camps...And for some reason, the chain stores in their neighborhoods are cheaper. Just last year, they discovered that cooking gas was cheaper in Bnei Brak than across the street in Ramat Gan. If you can't afford them - don't have them!

Parents are the ones who are primarily responsible for providing a decent living fot their children. By trying to shirk this responsibility, parents with many children simply undermine Israel's economic stability.
