LONDON – Israeli gymnast Alexander Shatilov, who represents one of Israel's most promising chances for an Olympic medal in the London Games, successfully graduated two events on Saturday, assuring he will compete in the finals.
Shatilov will vie for a medal in the floor finals – his strongest discipline; and in the all-round finals.
The young gymnast excelled in his qualifications floor exercise, scoring 15.633 points. He finished in seventh place with an overall score of 89.032.

Twenty-four gymnasts graduated to the artistic gymnastics finals.

Shatilov, who will face strong competition from the Chinese and Japanese gymnasts, told Ynet that "I know I'm just as good as my competition. We're all in the same level.
"I'm here to win a medal. I won't settle for anything less," he said.
